First Attempt, Pinoy Heavy Metal Compilation

If you like some head banging music na sariling atin? well here’s the album for you. First Attempt, compilation of Philippine heavy metal music .
First Attempt was recorded, mixed and mastered by Eric Perlas and Jose Carlos at the Tower of Doom Productions except the tracks recorded and mixed by Eric Perlas and COG.
The bands in this album compilation are mixes of old school heavy metal and contempory heavy metal. No rap lyrics, just pure heavy volumed kick ass Filipino metal.
Sacramento Vocals: Mike Sacramento Guitar: Jayvee Bass: 3p Drums: Jeff
Sacramento played, And Phoenix Shall Rise and Submission. Astig tong banda na ito, heavy guitar riff’s at astig na parang Max Cavalera na vocals. This is the type of band na hindi nakakasawa pakinggan. Both songs have balance rhythms. Ganda ng mga bagsakan nila, galing mo Jayvee and Jeff.
Red Boy Vocals: Marlon Guitar: Tony Guitar: Josel Bass: Yovie Drums: Abet
For me malayo mararating ng bandang to. Red Boy played Man in Pain and Unborn. When I listened to this band feeling ko gusto ko magmukmok sa isang madilim na kuwarto, habang unti unti akong nasisiraan ng ulo. Mabagal na pakiramdam pero mabilis ang paligid mo. I like the guitar riffs and the vocals, old school dating ng banda, well parang Pantera you know what I mean. Galing din ng drummer at ng base lines. Two thumbs-up man.
COG Vocals: Yagi Olaguera Guitar: Eric Perlas Guitar: Joel Patricio Bass: Ritchie Ramos Drums: Allan Po
Humahatak ng emotions tong band na to, mabigat? As I listened to Collapse and Definition naalala ko kung ano itsura ni Corey Taylor sa Disasterpiece concert nila. And I also imagined the intense power and heaviness na naramdaman ng mga tao pagsumigaw si Corey. I’m not saying na para silang Slipknot, I think they have the same type of energy.
Precinct 4 Vocals: Ronald Arroyo Guitar: Edong Villafranca Bass: Mike Miranda Drums: Obet Racho
Precinct 4 has the qualities of a Napalm Death, Cryptopsy and other death metal bands. Ganda ng mixing ng records nila, parang nasa era ka ulit where metals and punks ay magkaaway pa. Medyo nabitin lang ako sa guitar sounds kasi both songs 4 and Chemical Warfare sa First Attempt compilation wala akong narinig na guitar solo from Edong Villafranca. But Precinct 4 has nice riffs, siguro doon sila bumawe at sa drums. Nagustuhan ko yong crispiness ng record nila bagay na bagay sa type ng tugtugan ng Precinct 4.
Zone 32 Vocals: Dennis Guitar: Oliver Guitar: Chris Bass: Pherpher Drums: Jerico
Well… Ok sana tong Zone 32, but the record was too dry for me. Medyo dry na nga ang arrangement ng Back Off and Respect eh naging dry pa pati ang recording. This band has the potential to kick you off where your standing but they’re lacking in power and intensity, I don’t know if its the record or the songs.
Witchtreesymbol Vocals: Israel Guitar: Jaycee Bass: Fil Drum: Rember
After hearing Mp-5 Navy and You I Hate, I remember band names 311, Tool and Earth Crisis. Well, Witchtreesymbol and 311 doesn’t sound the same, meron lang similarities, I think, but of course heavier ang Witchtreesymbol. Witchtreesymbol’s sound is different from a typical heavy metal band. They have smooth rythms, hard and rebellious riffs and lyrics. I personaly like the mixing, bagay sa type of music ng Witchtreesymbol.
