The new millennium has brought us scores of female-fronted/all-female bands to the point of nausea. If you have doubts on this, just turn your radio on and check it out yourself.

See, the rise of disposable bubblegum cute crap is now mistaken as “female-empowerment in rock music”. Only a handful of them chose to stand out for artistic integrity instead of music business whoredom.

Yeah,yeah they need money to pay the rent but does it mean that we all have to succumb to such pure mediocrity?

Good thing bands like Centerfold from Bikolandia offer a fresher alternative to the puke-inducing sonic dumpsite. Composed of Ma. Vanessa J. Navarro on vocals, Deannel Baracena and Carlo Nikko “Khatz” Catimbang on guitars, Edgar Jose “Eboy” Badiola on bass and James Lloyd Seminiano on drums, the band contributes two song for the much-anticipated MusikMax Bikol compilation CD.
